Project Lost & Found is led by Atticus & Finch, a Canadian private intelligence and investigative firm committed to supporting families of missing persons through investigative expertise, intelligence analysis, search planning, and operational coordination.

Our team includes professionals with experience in private investigations, intelligence, law enforcement, military, emergency management, crime analysis, search operations, cybersecurity, law, marketing and graphic design and public safety. By bringing together expertise from multiple disciplines, we are able to provide families with practical, evidence-informed support tailored to the unique circumstances of each case.

Built on Real-World Experience

The foundation of Project Lost & Found can be traced back to 2020, when Atticus & Finch Founder and CEO Matt Mickelson led and coordinated one of Alberta's largest grassroots missing persons search and recovery efforts.

Working alongside hundreds of volunteers, landowners, and with the cooperation of the Calgary Police Service, the RCMP, and Siksika Nation, the operation covered more than 5,000 kilometres of backroads, hundreds of kilometres of public and private land, and 122 kilometres of the Bow River in a single day. Today, this operation would cost over a estimated $150,000 CAD. The family never saw a bill for this effort. 

That experience demonstrated both the extraordinary willingness of communities to help and the significant challenges families face once large-scale search efforts become difficult to sustain. It also highlighted the need for professional coordination, investigative analysis, and specialized resources that many families simply do not have access to.

Those lessons became the foundation for Project Lost & Found. Today, our team applies the experience gained from years of investigations, search operations, and case analysis to help families pursue new opportunities, coordinate community efforts, and continue the search for answers in a safe, structured, and professional manner.
